Silly games…
November 10th, 2008Ok folks, so i’ve been a bit slack with my posting here latley, but I thought i might tell you all why…
http://www.themanaworld.org
thats why, it’s a pretty cool 2d MMORPG game available for just about every operating system you can think of, and for a game that’s still in active development, it’s a pretty nice little piece of work.
so download it, update it (all of which is done automatically) and you’ll be off.
So get yourself online and in-game and i’ll see you there, if you have any trouble, just ask, the folks hanging around the bazzar are pretty laid back when it comes to helping new players and if you find a reallt nice one, they might even give you some free gear to get you going.
Weddings…. Ohh what joy!
October 23rd, 2008Well someone said to me “Break a leg”, no one thought I would take them so seriously.
Yes, as you all probably know, I thought that a nice evening of Ice Skating would be a good way to spend the night before my wedding. Little did I know that at 2:30am the day of my wedding, I would be leaving the Emergency Room of the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a broken Fibular and an ankle with a dis-jointed bone.
Thankfully, my wife to be was rather understanding of the situation, and even though we needed to postpone our honeymoon so that I can have some surgery.
I’m booked into have that surgery on Wednesday arvo (26th Oct, 2008) and then after a few weeks in a cast, I’ll get a new cast and then a few weeks after that I should have use of my foot again.
I’ll keep you posted on how I go.
The “Brumby & Holding” Show
September 24th, 2008What a pair of fucking jokers!
The ‘North-South Pipeline’ project aims to upgrade the irrigation infrastructure in the Golburn system to help increase the amount of water available, with the savings being piped off to Melbourne to be treated for use in the metro area.
With people dependant on the water in the Golburn system for agriculture and horticulture business’ being given 4% of their water allocation, surly any water saved by these upgrades should stay in the system for the better of the local communities?
The government, local and federal, are to blame for the current water fiasco, after years of over allocation and ignorance, we are now in the position of having little to no water for our farmers to feed the rest of us.
If people in Melbourne want to water their gardens, they should do what people in the bush have been doing for years, GET A TANK!
There is a little rule of thumb I would like people to remember next time it rains and the water goes down the drain…
1mm of Rain + 1sq Meter of roof = 1 litre of WATER
Think about the amount of water you could catch for your garden, for consumption and for the benefit of the people that miss out when you turn on your tap.
SA Drivers & SAT NAV
September 20th, 2008Umm where do I start?
Candy and I headed off yesterday morning at about 5am for a flying day-trip to Adelaide for the final meetings with the Band and Venue etc for our wedding.
We enlisted the services of Candy’s brothers SAT NAV unit, which did nothing but lead us down stupid little residential streets from the minute we got into the outskirts of the city, so we spent about 2 hours driving around past peoples houses when all we really needed to do was go the way I had looked up on google maps the night before!
ARGHH!!!! Needless to say, I won’t be going out too buy a GPS SAT NAV unit anytime soon.
But that wasn’t the end of my dramas, I then had to spend the rest of the day trying to read the minds of every other SA driver on the road, because they sure as hell wern’t going to give me any indications of what they were going to do, I had trucks swerve into my lane and all sorts of other goodies, while I was happily minding my own business.
Anyway, apart from the retarded drivers in SA, the crazy road works and the fact that Candy was whinging about her choice of shoes for the day (she now has a pair of blistered feet! Silly Girl!!!) it was a good trip, I don’t normally like running over and back in one day, but that wasn’t so bad.
Time for my normal weekend stuff now.
Cya!
“The Candiece Mewburn Pace”
September 13th, 2008Tonight saw Candy and I head to the local Harness Racing meeting, Tankard Dental (the mob she works for) was the sponsor for the nights races and her boss named one of the races after her. So we went to see the Candiece Mewburn Pace’ she blew $15 bux on bogus horses just because she liked the names =P
We had a feed and a few drinks (Cheers to the Tankard boys for footing the bill for that one!) and then went and met up with the other boys, Hawkie and Droid, who were doing the pizza delivery thing, and we all headed out to the Brewery for a quiet drink before heading home.
Tommorow is going to be a big day, I’ve got a few things to get tidied up around the yard before heading down the river with my jetski for an afternoon of fast paced jetski shinanigans!
I’ll let you know how we go =P
Rescue 124!
August 1st, 2008Next time you are climbing something big and get stuck, who you gunna call? Ghostbusters? Nah! Give me a bell.
Yesterday (being the 31st July) we updated our Verticle Rescue tickets so we are ready for another year of readyness when it comes to getting injured or unconscious people down from a tower we are working on.
That being said, last night I had a huge amount of energy to kill so the boys and I went down for a few rounds of lasers.
Ummmm what else, we finally got the Carby Kits for my jetski in and Hawkie had a play with them and put them in last night, hopefully we will have that all up and running by the end of this weekend, might have to take it out for a chilly run to see how she goes, I might even wait a few weeks untill it starts to get a bit warmer.
Candy wants to take me shopping for a motorbike helmet, I don’t have a motorbike and I don’t have a licence to ride one, so I might just get a cheapie off of ebay untill I have more of a reason to get one, then again I might just wait untill i have a bike of my own, my luek will be that if I head out on someone’s bike I will get pinged for not having a licence anyway.
Plus we have a wedding that would be benifited from a few extra bucks being paid off of it.
Anyway, I know I’m a lazy bastard, but thats OK, I think I might get out and start planning the new dog kennel for Dizzy, she has been getting cold and we can’t have her inside all night.
Ciao
Where did Johnny go again?
July 9th, 2008Ahh well Johnny has been and gone and now it’s time to sort through the aftermath. We had a bit of a rough start this morning but once we gathered up a few items of importance we were off and racing.
The job we rocked up to do turned into something a little more complicated, but only a little, so we clambered up the tower and got the job done. The fact that we were lacking a little in the equipment department only highlighted the need for us to get the rest of the gear quick smart. Lucky for us the boss had come down to give us a hand as ground crew so he was more than privy to the situation and decided that first thing in the morning, we would put in an order for nearly all the gear, well practically everything except the winch and the hauling socks, which we won’t need until we have a big job.
We are stopping into Manangatang to give some guys a hand next week. They should have all the gear, but we are going to have a secret stash in the van just in case.
Anyway, today was a success and Johnny isn’t the nasty bastard I was thinking he was going to be, he musn’t be related to that Murphy prick!
Here’s Johnny!
July 9th, 2008That was a somewhat random title, Johnny has nothing to do with the post, but if you think back to the Hocus Pocus song of the same name, it always gets me a bit pumped up.
And today I am getting dressed for work in my SNOW GEAR! Not because I’m going to the snow, but because I’m going up, up, up in the world!
There was a crew of riggers in town working for Optus and they damaged a transmission dish on the main Optus tower in Mildura and we have the job to fix it, so my fellow Merbenien and Rigger collegue are heading up the tower to replace the mounting bracket on this bad boy, we aren’t really geared up for it properly yet, but this job gets us a HUGE foot in with the companies that will get us rigging jobs! Just by saying yes to this job, we have been given another job at Manangatang (east of Ouyen) for most of next week. Which is also really good, it will give us a chance to see how the guys do the jobs we will be doing once they are fully setup and have a bit ox experience.
So I will fill you all in on the exciting things, but right now, i gotta scoot!
FAILURE!
July 6th, 2008Failure to run a course once you’ve paid the bastards $1300 already is a pain in the arse, so I’m home early and it might be a good thing thing.
We have been given 50 odd sites by the company doing the Vodafone 3G rollout and that means that I need to assemble 6 guys and 4 vehicles, about $60k worth of tools and eq and get them trained up and ready to roll out on the road for about 6 months, which is a pain in the arse considering I’m getting married in 3 months and will be away for 3 weeks.
Seeing that I’ve been given a leadership role in this project, I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to run my crews. I don’t think that having these guys up and onsite at 7:30 in the morning is too much to ask for, we are onsite around then when we do power work for christs sake! The earlier we get there the earlier we get done and the sooner we can move on to the next site, which means the sooner we get home!
I was given a car to go away in, VY Commodore Ute, nice ute, travels nicer than just about any other vehicle they have in the fleet, so i loaded up all my tools and the fridge and off I went, I was going away for 2 weeks. I get home to have someone tell me that someone else is going away in it on Monday (tommorow now) and that I needed to get my crap out of it. No problem, I don’t mind so much that I need to get out of it for someone, the part that shits me is that I am increasingly needing a vehicle to cart my shit around in and no one wants to bite the bullet and get me one of my own, do they think I’m leaving them or something? I’m in this one for the long haul, I enjoy what I’m doing way too much to throw the towel in on this one.
Anyway, I’ll keep you all posted about whats going on, hopefully I’ll be getting a NextG modem for the laptop they gave me and I’ll be able to keep you all updated while I’m away, will take some photos of me dangling 100M in the air as well!
