My name is Zach Fleming, but you probably worked that out by the title of this page.
I am a hobbyist web designer and technology enthusiast, and this is where you can check out some of my work, my ideas and my passion.
I have a theory when it comes to designing web pages, and taking a look around here, it should be pretty obvious.
I believe that a websites main purpose is to deliver content to users. To achieve this in the most effective way, I have developed a theory. I call it my 'Rule of 10.'
rule of 10
A website should load on a normal internet connection in under seven seconds, and the content you want to deliver should be no more than 3 clicks from your home page.
Having loading times and link depths outside the constraints of my 'rule of 10' and I believe you start to loose your visitors interest, which is bad, especially if you are trying to sell a product or service.
This rule leads to a reasonably minimilistic page, that gets straight to the point, without letting flashy graphics and bedazzling animations get in the way.
I participate in a number of other projects, and clicking the projects link at the top of this page will give you some idea of what they are.
Of special interest to me is NorthWestWifi.org. A group dedicated to wireless communication in and around Mildura, Victoria.
